EcoClean-M is a biostimulating
agent for cleaning soil and groundwater contaminated with
Hexavalent Chromium. It is a mixture of well-balanced nutrients
for microorganisms capable of respiring Hexavalent chromium.
When this biostimulant is applied to the contaminated soil
and groundwater, the natural microorganisms are stimulated.
The population of these effective microbes increases within
a period of days. The microbes use EcoClean-M as the source of
energy and nutrients, and respire Cr(VI). In this process
the water soluble, highly toxic Cr(VI) is reduced to non-soluble
Cr(III). The latter form of Chromium is filtered by soil
matrix and there by does not flow down gradient along with
groundwater.
